Performance that API 5L X52 PSL2 pipeline steel should have
1. High intensity. The strength indicators of API 5L X52 PSL2 pipeline steel mainly include tensile strength and yield strength. While requiring high strength, there are also requirements for the yield ratio (ratio of yield strength to tensile strength) of API 5L X52 PSL2 pipeline steel, which is generally required to be in the range of 0.85 to 0.93.
2. High impact toughness. API 5L X52 PSL2 pipeline steel requires that the material should have sufficiently high impact toughness (crack initiation and crack arrest toughness). For the base metal, when the toughness value of the material meets the requirements for crack arrest, the toughness of API 5L X52 PSL2 pipeline steel can generally meet the requirements for preventing crack initiation.
3. Low ductile-brittle transition temperature. Harsh regional and climatic conditions require API 5L X52 PSL2 pipeline steel to have a sufficiently low ductile-brittle transition temperature. Shear area has become the main control indicator to prevent brittle failure of pipelines. General specifications require that the shear area of the fracture surface of the specimen at the lowest operating temperature F is not less than 85%.
