Jordan and India Sign Agreement to Establish Steel Plant
According to the Petra news agency, Jordan's Minister of Water and Irrigation Hasar Nasser recently signed an agreement with India's Jindal SAW Group to decide on a steel pipe production plant in southern Jordan to be used for the implementation and export of water projects. Nasser stressed that this project first opened in Jordan and the region, and estimated the first phase of investment will exceed 100 million U.S. dollars. Nasser said Jordan is the first country in the region and even in the world to implement a strategic water resource project aimed at securing extra water. The construction of the plant will lay a solid foundation for cooperation in cross-border water resources projects. Nasser pointed out that the Jindal SAW Group is the world's fifth largest pipe producer with facilities in countries such as Italy, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. Group CEO Niraj Kumar signed the agreement on behalf of the Indian side and appreciated Jordan's efforts in the areas of water resources, humanitarian, development and construction. Kumar stressed that Jordan has a very attractive investment environment for large-scale global industries and this project will contribute to the development of industries in Jordan and the region.
