Russia June Coal Exports Increase 23.37%, Top China
Russia logged an increase of 23.37% in its coal exports from a month ago in June, with China being the top destination, showed data from the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
Russia exported 20.7 million tonnes of coal in June, which was 1.23% higher than a year ago, data showed.
China, its biggest coal buyer in June, purchased 3.38 million tonnes of coal, rising 32.4% year on year and 34.94% month on month.
The second largest importer was South Korea, taking 2.7 million tonnes, inching down 0.64% from a year ago yet increasing 34.39% from May.
Exports to Germany registered a year-on-year increase of 2.24 times to 2.36 million tonnes, which was up 83.64% from the month prior.
Japan received 1.72 million tonnes of coal from Russia in June, inching down 0.4% year on year but increasing 13% month on month.
Russia exported 14.26 million tonnes of thermal coal, including bituminous and other coal, in June, posting a year-on-year drop of 1.03% yet a month-on-month increase of 19.44%, data showed.
The country's anthracite coal exports saw an increase of 8.04% compared to a year ago and 37.1% from the previous month to 2.78 million tonnes.
Russian exported 2.29 million tonnes of coking coal in June, dropping 7.59% from a year ago but increasing 2.01% from the preceding month.
Lignite exports stood at 1.36 million tonnes, up 38.92% and 2.4 times from the year-ago and month-ago levels, respectively, showed the data.
Value of coal exports amounted to $1.59 billion in June, decreasing 8.68% year on year but up 19.06% month on month.
Russia saw a year-on-year increase of 7.26% in coal exports to 107 million tonnes in the first six months this year, with total export value worth $8.84 billion, rising 9.09% from the same period a year ago.(source from sxcoal.com)
