According to the data of the General Administration of customs, in March 2021, China exported 7.542 million tons of steel, a year-on-year increase of 16.4%; From January to March, China exported 17.682 million tons of steel, up 23.8% year on year.

In March, China imported 1.322 million tons of steel, up 16.0% year on year, with an average import price of US $1226.6 per ton; From January to March, China imported 3.718 million tons of steel, up 17.0% year on year.

Since May 1, 2021, the export tax rebate for some iron and steel products has been cancelled. Before this adjustment, 166 iron and steel codes enjoy the treatment of export tax rebate, and 146 of them have been cancelled in this adjustment. Except for rail, wheel and axle, the export tax rebate for hot-rolled products has been cancelled, and the varieties retained for export tax rebate include cold rolled alloy steel sheet, cold-rolled ordinary medium thick wide steel strip, cold-rolled thin wide steel strip, electro galvanized steel sheet, hot-dip galvanized steel sheet, tinplate, aluminum zinc plate, electrical steel, etc.

With more relaxed import policy and rapid convergence of export policy, it is expected that China's steel import and export volume will be affected in the later period, which can alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand in China's steel market to a certain extent.
