From the perspective of import and ASTM A131 grade EH40 etc. steel export, China imported a large amount of finished products, billets and pig iron from June to September 2020. In particular, the import volume of billets and some finished products has doubled year-on-year. Most of the imported billets are rolled into threads and medium and heavy plates. But China's ASTM A131 grade EH40 and so on steel inventory has not accumulated significantly, indicating that the actual demand in the Chinese market has exceeded expectations.

But now China's steel imports have dropped significantly, ASTM A131 grade EH40 and so on steel exports have continued to increase, and steel products have begun to realize net exports (including billets and pig iron) again. The ASTM A131 grade EH40 and so on steel inventory is still accumulating. The comparison shows that the supply and demand pattern of China's steel industry has changed significantly. The short supply in the early stage has changed to the oversupply in the current stage, while at the same time the foreign supply and demand pattern has changed in the opposite direction.
