Can A131 AH36 shipbuilding steel plate and Q345B steel plate substitute each other? The key is what you do! A131 AH36 shipbuilding steel plate is steel certified by Classification Society, while Q345B steel plate is low alloy structural steel. Although the mechanical properties of A131 AH36 shipbuilding steel plate and Q345B steel plate are similar, their corrosion resistance and low temperature resistance are different. If A131 AH36 shipbuilding steel plate is used instead of Q345B steel plate, it is no big problem. But Q345B steel plate can not replace A131 AH36 shipbuilding steel plate. According to the minimum yield point, structural steels for hull are classified into general strength and high strength steels, which are classified into four grades: A, B, D and E by quality; high strength steels are classified into two strength grades and three quality grades; AH32, DH32, EH32, AH36 shipbuilding steel plate, DH36 and EH36.
