Difference of mechanical properties between Q420 and C45 steel:
Mechanical properties of Q420 steel:
The yield strength is more than 340 MPa, the tensile strength is 500-680 MPa, the elongation after fracture is ≥ 18%, and the impact energy is 34J.
Mechanical properties of C45 steel:
The tensile strength is 600 MPa, the yield strength is 355 MPa, the elongation after fracture is 16%, the reduction of area is 40%, and the impact absorbed energy is 39J.
Difference of properties and uses between Q420 and C45 steel:
Q420 steel has good mechanical properties and weldability, good cold and hot workability. The strength and toughness of the steel are improved by adding microalloying elements. Q420 steel is mainly used for manufacturing mining machinery, heavy vehicles, ships, bridges, medium and high pressure boilers, vessels and other large welding and structural parts.
C45 steel is suitable for manufacturing high strength moving parts, such as air compressor, piston of pump, impeller of steam turbine, rolling shaft, connecting rod, worm, rack, gear and pin in heavy and general machinery.
