General situation and influence trend of Ferroalloy resources in Ukraine
The situation between Russia and Ukraine is heating up gradually, and the geopolitical conflicts are intensifying. The impact of conflicts on major assets may be limited to the pre-conflict and early stage, and Ukraine is also the supplier of international manganese and silicon alloy resources. What about the situation of local manganese resources in Ukraine?
Ferroalloy production: According to the data released by the Ukrainian Association of Ferroalloy Producers (UkrFA), Nikopol and ZaporoZhye ferroalloy plants produced a total of 662,700 tons of silicon-manganese in 2021, an increase of 18.4%; 100,600 tons of ferromanganese, 18.2% less than last year; 7750 tons of electrolytic manganese, 180% more than last year; 876,000 tons of ferrosilicon, up 44.1% year on year.
Local exports: In 2021, Ukraine exported 509,000 tons of silicon-manganese, up 12% year on year, of which 272,000 tons were exported to Europe and 139,000 tons to Turkey. In 2021, the export volume of ferromanganese decreased by 51% year-on-year to 27,000 tons, while the export volume of ferrosilicon increased by 57% year-on-year to 47,000 tons.
