Heat treatment of SA543 Type B CL1 steel plate
Posted:2021-09-08 18:20:56
SA543 Type B CL1 steel plate should be heat treated. The SA543 Type B CL1 steel plate can be heated to the appropriate austenitizing temperature, the holding time is sufficient to make the temperature uniform across the thickness, and the appropriate liquid medium is used for quenching by eruption or intrusion. The SA543 Type B CL1 steel plate should then be tempered at a temperature not lower than 1100°F (595°C) to produce the required function, and the holding time shall not be less than ½h/in. (1.2min/mm) thickness, but no less At ½h.
SA543 Type B CL1 steel plates with a thickness greater than 4in. (100mm) should be pre-normalized or water quenched at a temperature in the range of 1650~1850°F (900~1010°C) before the heat treatment in the above rules.
When performing the above heat treatment, the SA543 Type B CL1 steel plate is tempered at a temperature not lower than 1100°F (595°C).
