Heat treatment process of 16MnDR steel plate
16MnDR steel plate is a kind of low alloy high strength steel, because the carbon content in hot rolled state is about 0.35%, so it is also called 16 Mn steel. Its chemical composition (mass fraction) is: carbon ≤0.65%, silicon ≤2.0%, manganese ≤1.0%, phosphorus ≤0.05. The steel has high strength, toughness and good welding performance. But the steel must be conditioned to obtain good comprehensive mechanical properties and welding properties.
Heat treatment process of 16MnDR steel plate: The steel plate is conditioned to obtain the steel performance to meet the needs of users. The quenching temperature is 650~700℃, and the tempering temperature is about 600℃. Heat treatment method of 16MnDR steel plate: The steel plate is heated (in the furnace heating), insulation, cooling, in order to obtain the required microstructure and mechanical properties of steel. There are three methods for the heat treatment system: conventional heat treatment (annealing, tempering), quenching and high temperature tempering.
16MnDR steel plate has high hardness and good hardenability after tempering treatment. However, because of its brittleness tendency, it can not be used to manufacture impact-bearing components and working parts requiring higher hardness (greater than HRC).
Technical requirements of 16MnDR steel plate: chemical composition, mechanical properties, appearance quality. 16 MnDR steel plate must be produced by hot and cold rolling processes, but a small amount of semi-continuous rolling is allowed.
