Influence of S and P content on impact energy performance of DH36 marine steel plate
When the S content is reduced to below 0.002, a very peculiar phenomenon occurs in the impact energy of the DH36 marine steel plate. When the C (0.08-0.17%) and Alt (0.02-0.042%) content fluctuates in a wide range, the impact energy fluctuation is very small. And stably aggregated to a relative maximum.
When the composition of Si (0.24-0.46%) and Mn (1.27-1.50%) fluctuates, if S is still around 0.002%, the impact energy of DH36 marine steel plate is in the maximum range, although the content of Si and Mn fluctuates, but at 130 -180J fluctuates at a high level, and the fluctuation range is not large.
The research on the relationship between the generally considered harmful element P and the impact energy shows a peculiar phenomenon, and the lower the P is, the better. When the P content is in the range of 0.018-0.020%, the impact energy has a maximum value, and the impact energy also fluctuates very little when the C content fluctuates in a wide range, which subverts the previous research that the lower the P content in the DH36 marine steel plate, the lower the impact energy. The concept of less influence on steel properties, at least for DH36 marine steel plate, P should be controlled in a suitable range, and the lower the S content, the better.
