Vietnam's imports of SM520C material increased year on year in August

According to the Vietnam Steel Association, Vietnam imported 1.6 million tons of SM520C material and other steel products in August alone, worth $828 million. The import volume increased by 25% year-on-year and the amount decreased by 0.2% year-on-year.

Vietnam imported 9.7 million tons of SM520C material and so on steel in the first eight months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%. China is one of the main markets supplying steel to Vietnam. According to the data of Vietnam's National Bureau of Statistics, in 2019, Vietnam imported nearly $9.5 billion, about 14.6 million tons of steel, with the quantity increasing by 7.6%, but the amount decreased by 4.2% compared with that in 2018.
