GL grade A steel plate is a kind of hot rolled general strength steel. GL grade A steel plate is almost exclusively used in the shipbuilding industry for the construction of structural parts of ships, barges and marine equipment.

GL grade A steel plate is certified by GL (Germanischer Lloyd) Classification society. It is equivalent to LR A, CCS/A, etc.

For grade A shipbuilding steel, we can get approval from nine international classification societies, such as ABS, LR, GL, CCS, NK, DNV, BV, RINA, KR. GL grade A steel plate can choose Z-test when rolling, which can improve the steel property in thickness direction. There are three class Z-test for GL grade A steel plate equivalent, including Z15, Z25 and Z35.
